Global Compact Local Network - India
The Global Compact Network (GCN) was formed in November 2003 and registered as a non-profit Society, to function as the Indian Network of the Global Compact Programme initiated by the Secretary General, United Nations. The Global Compact Programme (www.unglobalcompact.org) lays down a universally acceptable broad set of guiding principles for businesses towards respecting values of Human Rights, Labour Rights, Environment Protection and Anti-corruption and working towards achievement of UN Millennium Development Goals. GCN, functioning within a globally recognised and established initiative along with a pan-India membership base provides an extremely relevant vehicle for Indian business to address the challenges and assuage the concerns at the international as well as domestic levels.
